The Inspiration Behind Hearts&Crafts etc.

Updated: Aug 30, 2019

This Baby Sasquatch Amigurumi custom order is definitely one of my favorite little creations.

What do I do? A little bit of anything and everything that is crafty. I dabble in some areas and consider myself somewhat of an expert in others. My forte is crochet and that will be the main focus of this blog. I have a habit of trying new things or switching up my crafting focus so I wanted to leave room for all the other fun things I might decide to share! If there is anything on this list that you are particularly interested in learning about, please let me know. I would love to know what YOU want to see!

I will also feature contributions from my business partner, Rebecca Rader. Our shared love of crochet is what inspired us to create our small business: Hearts&Crafts etc.

The kinds of posts you may come across in the future on this blog:

  • Crochet - this will be my main focus!

  • Knit

  • Hand Lettering/Brush Lettering

  • Drawing/Illustration

  • Painting - Watercolor & Acrylic are favorites

  • Felting

  • Embroidery/Sewing

  • Jewelry Making

  • Bullet Journal

  • Resin - UV & Two-Part

  • Ceramics

  • Linoleum Block Printing

  • Large-scale Wire Sculpture

  • Paper Crafts

  • Recycled Materials

  • Duct Tape

  • Macrame

Here is a taste of some of my work:

Watercolor with brush lettering using Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
Resin pendant with a genuine rattlesnake fang* and rose. This one is not for sale, I was able to create this because of my time volunteering at a local reptile sanctuary. I hope to create more items like this, but it is a rarity to be able to obtain the fangs. **No animals were harmed in the creation of this product. All rattlesnake fangs used are acquired from a local sanctuary and are only handled by individuals trained to work with venomous snakes. Fangs are only collected after the animal has naturally discarded the tooth.
I have done a lot of hand sewing, but I learned how to truly hand embroider from a local woman in St. Luce, Madagascar. I embroidered this bracelet based on animals I photographed in Madagascar.
